The Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee has revealed the 2026 Henry Hewes Design Awards Honorees who will be recognized at the 62nd annual ceremony on October 19 in New York. In a career shaped by curiosity, collaboration and a fascination with the power of light to tell a story, Justin Partier has found his calling on some of opera and theater’s most demanding stages.

Influenced by family, inspired by photography and music, and ultimately captivated by theater, Partier pursued a career with a clear goal in mind: making a living as a working lighting designer and associate. Bob Mackie, Designer Who Bedazzled Carol Burnett and Cher, Dies at 87

Bob Mackie, the exuberant costume and fashion designer whose glittering, beaded, sequined, rhinestoned, feathered and often winged creations bedecked, bedazzled and elevated performers like Carol Burnett, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Bernadette Peters, Bette Midler, Mitzi Gaynor, Liza Minnelli, Elton John, RuPaul and, most memorably and enduringly, Cher — as well as an 11½-inch model named Barbie — died on Monday in Palm Springs, Calif. Spring Awakening Returns Fall 2026

The production will be directed by Tony-winning The Outsiders director Danya Taymor. Performances will begin at Studio Seaview November 27 ahead of an official opening night on December 17. The musical runs in a limited engagement through February 14, 2027.

Newly announced creative team members include scenic designers Christine Jones and Brett Banakis, costume designer Kaye Voyce, lighting designer Brian MacDevitt, sound designer Cody Spencer, special effects designer Jeremy Chernick.
